Hell is when the past is stronger than the present.

Please enjoy this session from my live workshop “Addiction” from 2011.
You become vulnerable to falling back into addiction because you’re not strong enough to resist the pull of the past. Hell is when the past is stronger than the present. The psychic field of the past possesses you, keeping you from entering present time. This is why people in hell become addicts.
Addiction is one of the most complex and painful experiences to witness or endure, often framed through the lens of helplessness. In this workshop, we’ll explore addiction not only as a personal or clinical issue, but as a deeply spiritual one. Drawing from years of experience in the healing field and direct exposure to the world of recovery, this session challenges conventional frameworks and opens new ways of thinking about empowerment, surrender, and choice.
Alcoholics Anonymous has long defined addiction as a disease—one in which the individual is helpless over their condition. But does this view hold up when placed within the broader context of spiritual growth and the soul’s journey? Why are we considered powerless in this arena, when we are not seen as powerless over anger, hatred, or grief? Together, we will examine these provocative questions and consider a more expansive understanding of addiction, one that invites spiritual agency, responsibility, and transformation.
This workshop is for anyone who has been affected by addiction—personally or through someone they love—and for those seeking to expand their insight into the spiritual dimensions of healing and recovery.
