It’s odd how life brings you full circle, yet it’s not quite full circle. You return to a familiar position only far more appreciative of that place than when you stood there decades earlier. I am speaking of my work as a medical intuitive, a skill that I actually thought I had retired from a few years ago – but apparently not. A while back, Hay House radio suggested that I do a radio show on Sacred Contracts, which I do each Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 CST. Gradually that show has evolved into my doing more and more medical intuitive readings – which is fine, mind you. (It’s nice to know my antennae are still in fine working order), but it’s curious that while the focus of the program is on assisting people with identifying their archetypes, many people phone into the program for medical intuitive readings.
Then after writing ENTERING THE CASTLE, a book exploring the journey into the soul that was inspired by the exquisite 16th century mystical theologian, Teresa of Avila, I discovered in teaching this material that people were experiencing healings in the workshops. Sometimes the healings were spontaneous and sometimes they began in the workshops and continued over the course of the months following the workshop as the individual continued the journey into the Castle that had been initiated in the workshop. The “Castle” was the metaphor that Teresa of Avila used for the interior soul, the depth of your being, an inner place of tranquil divinity that cannot be accessed through the rational mind. This journey required far more than the mind – an instrument of reason and resistance – could generate. The awesome reality of healing as a mystical experience entered my life without my seeking it out. It simply opened like a garden of unexpected flowers reminding me once again that I had entered this entire world of spirituality through the path of health and not just this vague field we called the study of human consciousness. So finally, after nearly twenty-five years, once again I am standing on the threshold of the world of medical intuition with my dear friend, Norm Shealy, about to teach another class in medical intuition, only now I perceive the field with the soul of a mystic. I no longer am just interested in locating illness in a person but also want to guide a person into the fullness of healing – a journey that requires he or she have the courage to enter their Castle and embrace the mystical content of their life.
I have to admit, however, that medical intuitive readings still intrigue me after all these years as do the intuitive skills of other colleagues who I have met through the years whose skills are different than mine but equally helpful. I will mention one in this article, Therese Rowley, whose skill as an intuitive is wonderfully clear, but she works within an entirely different field – and that’s important to note. In my early days – during the 1980’s and early 90’s. At that time I lived in New Hampshire and worked with Norm Shealy, M.D., Ph.D., a brilliant neurosurgeon and scientist, who phoned from his office in Springfield, MO, in order that I could intuitively evaluate a patient via phone. We sometimes consulted on as many as five to eight patients each day – imagine that? As a rule, the patient was seated in his office while the two of us were on the phone and usually during the intuitive evaluation, I would ask Norm to hit the speaker phone gizmo so that I could address the patient directly. This arrangement worked perfectly for several reasons. First and most importantly, if I picked up that the patient was in the process of developing a serious illness that had yet to be diagnosed through conventional medical procedures, which often happened, Norm would then initiate the appropriate tests. Obviously, the patient was always asked if he or she wanted the assistance of a medical intuitive reading – Norm would never insist that a patient have such a consultation.
The coming of Norm into my life, so to speak, was among the greatest blessings of my life as I am quite certain I would never have developed the precision I have in doing medical intuitive readings had I not began a partnership with him in 1984. I know I would never have pursued a career as a medical intuitive had I not met him, because as odd as this may sound, the field of medical intuition – which is now so widely known and popular – did not exist when I met Norm. Psychics, of course, were emerging all over the place doing readings for people but they were readings on past lives and finances and career moves and of course romance. But medical intuitive readings, especially in the form of the sophisticated art that Norm and I would eventually develop, had not yet been introduced to the public. An intuitive had never been partnered with a physician, much less a neurosurgeon from Harvard.
Norm was the first person to explore with me the mystery of the intuitive reading; that is, what type of information can be discerned through energetic perception? And in my case, how could I discern that information so accurately at a distant when I never met or spoke with the individual? To be honest, the skill intrigued Norm far more than me as it made sense to me because it was a part of me in the same way that seeing the world as an artist does makes sense to an artist. You live with color and an eye for what shapes a painting within you. Life looks like potential paintings everywhere and for the photographer, everything looks like a potential photograph. Anyone with an exaggerated talent leans toward his or her exaggerated vista. Mine happens to be a clarity in a sensitivity of interpreting vibrational data. The data that is transmitted to satellites is wave data as is light as is email. What’s the big deal? You pick up this data constantly. The only difference between me and someone who cannot do this is that some part of my wiring is completely detached from this data. It is a fully unemotional experience for me, which is not the same as uncaring. That is where most people who attempt to learn any intuitive skill stumble and fall. They think that accuracy is a matter of empathy when, in fact, it is quite the opposite. It is a matter of complete detachment – as the Buddha would say.
Consider this approach applied to something rather than to someone. Think of how clear you are about someone else’s problems and how they should resolve them. You are clear because you have absolutely no attachment or, to say it as a Buddhist – you are detached from the outcome. Left or right, up or down – the consequence of either matters not to you. Therefore you can easily discern which way the more positive energy is flowing. When decisions come to you, your roadblock is attachment to the outcome. Ergo, all great spiritual traditions teach the powerful discipline of becoming detached. Detachment is clarity from which comes wisdom. A great obstacle in Western culture is that the term communicates a lack of emotion and even a form of isolating another individual for punishment. But my point is that to be detached as Buddha taught it is the source of why and how I can do precise medical intuitive readings. In the domain of energy, there is no space or time and thus all data is present. My detached state of consciousness is then able to discern information that is useful to a person seeking assistance with matters of health.
Rest assured that there are limits to what can be accessed, at least I have limits. If I didn’t, I would work the system for one good year and then retire – know what I mean? I would pull the winning lotto ticket numbers and then shut down for the rest of my life. That reminds me of a story that happened years ago….and I am convinced only a man would pull this one off. My brother used to be a trader down at the Chicago Board of Trade. One day, when the Illinois lotto or Super Lotto or whatever it was called, got up to around one hundred million dollars. So, this one trader calls me and offers me this deal – (see if you can ‘discern’ something off balance with this one): “Caroline”, he said, “I have a deal for you. If you can pick the winning lotto ticket for me, I’ll give you a million dollars.”
So I said, “Let me get this clear, just so I understand what you just said. If I can pick the lotto numbers accurately, I should give them to you so you can win one hundred million dollars and in exchange for that, you’ll give me one million. Did I hear you correctly?” He said, “Yes, can you do that?”
“I believe I can,” I told him, thinking as fast as I could on my feet, as they say. Then I added, “But this other trader offered me five million for the same deal just ten minutes ago. Sorry.” Amazing that this guy would trust intuitive skills for money but not for health and not even realize the arrogance of what he had just said to me.
Many people want to develop intuitive skills and my deep belief is that everyone is gut intuition is your primary intuitive skill. My friend and colleague, Therese Rowley, Ph.D., is a skilled intuitive residing in Chicago who specializes as a management consultant and an educator. She works with major corporations doing intuitive readings for top management on how to best organize their company. This is equal to a health consultation for the “corporate body”. She also works with individuals to do life readings. Her style is that she receives impressions that come in the form of words or she receives the image of an archetype that eventually unfolds into a story that blends with the events of a person’s life. Her readings draw upon that same realm of energetic data that I rely upon only my focus is specific to health and then to events that fill in a person’s life. Both styles incorporate the archetypal or symbolic realm. Intuitive abilities, as Therese and I have often discussed, develop with more precision as a person develops self-esteem. Clear intuition is a natural bi-product of self-esteem. They go hand-in-hand.
I began this newsletter by saying that life has brought me full circle, back to the field of medical intuition. Now I am blending that skill with healing and with the mystical experience. I now feel that I have all the tools I require to teach a model of the human energy system that begins with the physical body and the map of the seven chakras and continues now to the seven mansions of the soul. I am thrilled, therefore, to be able to teach a workshop with Norm once again on Intuitive and Healing as I feel this is a true first for us. I will be combining the mystical aspects of healing with the rigorous studies of the chakras and how to live the intuitive life. We chose a lovely place off in Canada because it’s wonderful to find a place that is beautiful and remote for such a workshop. And Norm will be at his best, teaching all that he has acquired about energy medicine and mastering the right physical lifestyle for health.
This promises to be a magnificent workshop – of that I have no doubt. I hope many of you will consider joining us.
Blessings,
Caroline
I am extremely pleased to announce that my dear colleague and friend, Norm Shealy, M.D., Ph.D., and I are offering a workshop on Intuition and Healing . It's been a long time since we've had the opportunity to work together again in the field of medical intuition and health that we launched over twenty-years ago. The many years of work and research in our mutual fields have refined our approaches to the science of medical intuition, energy medicine, and healing. Norm has continued in his remarkable research into advancing techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic and acute illnesses through alternative methods, which includes an expertise in nutrition, vitamins, acupuncture, herbs, past life regression, hypnosis, and now methods to advance longevity - all of which will be discussed in this workshop.
My work in medical intuition continued to evolve from basic health evaluation to the inclusion of your Sacred Contract and the identification of archetypal patterns and now I have begun to study the nature of healing as a mystical experience. This approach will be my primary focus in this class as I present healing as a mystical phenomenon. My lectures will include an examination of the nature of grace as a mystical substance and healing resource along with guidance on what it means to channel grace for healing.
This workshop will be a rare gift for you to give yourself because you will be with two of the best teachers in the field of health and medical intuition (if I do say so myself), who rarely have the chance to work together who genuinely adore teaching together and sharing their work, their long acquired wisdom, and we are both a lot of fun. ?I hope you'll join us.
