sample of the MAY SALON

June 10, 2005

Here is a sample of the MAY SALON: SPELL BREAKING and SPELL-CASTERS

Apparently a number of you feel as if being under a “spell” – or several of them, as the case may be – is a real part of your life. And it is. I don’t think people realize how easily influenced they are, and the worst aspect of it is that, for the most part, the people who cast spells in our lives hardly qualify for holding that kind of power over us. Give that a serious thought for a moment. Breaking a spell takes a great deal of conscious effort, especially if the source of that spell is a person with whom you have a complex relationship. By complex, I mean that the relationship can be loving, competitive, aggressive, or approval-based -- or the person could be deceased. But before we get to how to break spells, we need to chat for a minute about the Spell-caster archetype in general: What is a Spell-caster? How do you spot one? How can you tell when you are being put under a spell? How do you protect yourself? And are YOU a Spell-caster?

Many archetypes have some of the same “ingredients” or characteristics, as those of you know who have studied Sacred Contracts with me. All archetypes have one thing in common: They are communicators of patterns of power, and power is the name of the game on this planet. Everything you do, say, think, respond to with people, wear, buy or don’t buy, from the car you drive to the house you live in, has something to do with the way you calculate power in the world that exists behind your eyes. Your archetypes are the patterns through which you engage not only your own power of consciousness, but every one else’s as well. So, with that in mind, it is not inaccurate to state that all people are involved in power issues in some way. The way they experience those power issues varies, of course, and one way to understand the nature of your own power issues is to understand your particular archetypal patterns.

The Spell-caster, by its very nature, is more obviously involved with power manipulation. Usually, for example, when I mention the Divine Child archetype or the Hermit or Healer archetypes in class, people do not automatically associate power and manipulation with those. Yet, all archetypes have shadow sides to them, and so they hold the potential of negative power manipulation. But that is not the first thought that occurs to someone introduced to these archetypes. On the other hand, when people are introduced to archetypes like the Trickster, the Prostitute, the Saboteur, the Victim, the Bully, the Addict, the Gambler, or the Spell-caster, they rarely think of any positive characteristics of power. I have to work double-time to “break the spells” people are under when it comes to their associations with these archetypes. No matter how often I talk about the positive empowerment that comes from learning out of painful experiences that to sell one’s integrity, creativity, or freedom for the sake of what appears to be physical safety is a mistake, most people still have trouble grasping the lesson of self-empowerment that comes from the Prostitute. Spells are hard to break, and spells that are rooted in religious or social mores run deep in your cell tissue, like associations with the Prostitute…………………….

Continued in the May Salon...

I hope you will take the time to do some spell breaking as a result of this Salon. Even one broken spell generates enough power to change the whole of your life.

Meanwhile...back at the ranch, I have nearly completed the preparation for the channeled Autobiography of George Washington. I couldn’t help but notice that the May 23 edition of Newsweek had George, as he’s known in my office, on the front cover, promoting David McCullough’s new book on Washington. Just in these past few years, there have been at least nine new biographies of Washington, two on Franklin, one on Hamilton, a few on Jefferson, one on John Adams, one on Abigail Adams, a book on the Founding Fathers, and a book on the Founding Mothers. Hmm, say I, what’s going on here? What is behind this massive interest in our Founding Elders? Personally I think maybe – just maybe – they are hovering in the soul of America. (I certainly hope so!) I have spent so many months – years, actually – thinking about this channeled autobiography of Washington and the fact that it ended up in my life again -- why, and why now? I have a 23-year history with this manuscript, which is incredible to me. And the fact is that it could have been published any time during the past 60 years. Why did the heavens wait until now, when America is so hungry for making contact with the spirit of the Founding Fathers? That’s certainly a part of the psychic dynamics behind the popularity of Revolutionary history. We want to remember, perhaps even to reactivate, the founding vision of this nation. Oddly enough, George speaks about that in his autobiography, and of the vision the Founding Fathers held of this nation, although he doesn’t refer to them in that way. After all, he knew (knows?) them personally, and at the time they were not considered Founding Fathers, but revolutionaries. Such a rare manuscript.

Anyway, I hope this Salon was enjoyable.

God bless you all,
Caroline
