Dec 20, 2004

Greetings Myss community,

I want to wish you all a beautiful holiday season and lots of positive energy in 2005. It had been an honor giving workshops with Caroline this year. I am profoundly grateful for her support and also the support that everyone in the Myss community has given me.

As we approach a new year, I want to devote this newsletter to abundance—something every one of you deserves and can achieve. One way to get there is through the practice of forgiveness and being kind to one another. As we summon all our energy, light, and goodness we can make this world a better place. I hope you enjoy this newsletter!
With love,

THE POSITIVE ENERGY OF ABUNDANCE AND FORGIVENESS

As a psychiatrist and intuitive I believe that abundance is contingent on love and the power of forgiveness. To increase positive energy, there can be no new narrative without forgiveness. Otherwise, the narcotic of hatred make us into war machines, whether in the Middle East or in our own kitchen with our mate. In contrast, forgiveness is a striving to release resentments. Of course, if you’ve been wronged, it’s natural to feel enraged, hurt, or want to call an abusive relationship quits. However, if anger is all you have, emotional abundance can’t occur.

Forgiveness comes from your Large Self, a necessary heightening of perspective. Ultimately, it’s more for you than anyone else. While forgiveness might not make all rancor vanish, you’ll gain the freedom of seeing beyond it. Be aware that forgiveness refers to the actor, not the act. Not the offense, but the woundedness of the offender. The real soul-stretcher, though, is to attempt to empathize with the depths of these wounds. Also to recognize the sanctity of your “enemy,” which resonates beyond any war zone, a knowing to aspire towards. This human-to-human connection helps to remove an Us Versus Them mentality. Our desire to transcend hatred is a summoning of peace, but again, it requires a dedicated stretching of the soul.

On a massive scale, abundance grows when we realize our collective unity. From an energetic perspective, there’s no arbitrary division between Us and Them. That’s only our small-self’s hallucination, but one that can kill off civilization. Every human being is of one family, a truth I’d bet my life on. There’s an energetic metabolism between the exchange of nations, communities, the earth, and our bodies. We can do our part to fight for the abundance of a healthy Earth and its people.

I hold Krishnamurti’s words close: “The heart of man is in his own keeping. To end violence, we must relentlessly keep freeing ourselves from the violence within. Inner strife projected externally becomes world chaos.” Recognizing that the path to peace is not outside us, we must be cognizant of the energies we project. Remaining naive to this is irresponsible; so is lip service. Though talk alone can uplift, its power pales next to embodying the change we long for.

Love is a sustainable energy. Always remember that. The mandate is simple. If you’re tired, love. If you’re happy, love. At your final breath, love some more. When it feels utterly impossible--such moments arrive--try to love again later. I promise: you’ll never leave empty handed when the heart is true. There comes a point when we must decide what our endgame is going to be, personally and for the planet. To me, the only one that makes any sense is love. It’s how we have to define ourselves beyond all other criteria. This will ensure abundance.
