THE INABILITY TO EMPOWER OTHERS – Part II

In this Salon, we will continue our examination of the topic, “The Inability to Empower Others”, which is part of a series of Salons on, “Why We Sabotage Our Enlightenment”. For the sake of gathering all your thoughts together in the same place, I am going to review very quickly – and I mean quickly, although I am always inclined to offer insights that were not included in the April Salon.

First off, I decided to do this series because I realized that I could just have easily entitled this series, “Why We Sabotage Our Lives”. Enlightenment has a better ring to it, yes? I mean think about it – If a friend phoned you and you said, “I’m sitting around here thinking about why I sabotage my enlightenment” - what do you think your friend would say? Probably something like, “Oh, cool. That’s a very enlightened thing to do. Are you like fasting while you do this? Do you light all those consciousness candles of yours – you know the ones that have enlightened fragrances, like lavender? Do you do this in the dark or can you have music on…. I mean like spiritual music. I know you can’t listen to rap or anything while you’re enlightening all over the place. Maybe you could have a vision or a dream or something. Got any stuff to help you with your dreams….if you know what I mean…But seriously, that’s probably not a bad thing to do.” {NOTE – the phrase, ‘that’s probably not a bad thing to do’ is the archetypal way people respond to something when they know they SHOULD do it, but DON’T want to. The words ‘probably not’ are added as a way of not letting the words ‘should do’ get into your conscious mind. It’s kind of like hearing at a distance – WHEREAS the phrase, ‘That’s a good idea. I should do that’ reflects the mind of someone who has just been inspired. That is the person who will change.}

EGO versus SOUL Service

Service falls into two categories: ego and soul. Ego service matures through challenges within the physical world that are survival based. Soul service matures through an awakening to want to involve God directly into one’s decision making processes in life, like having a Partner in the art of survival. And the consciousness of wanting to serve and how we serve, that is becoming able to choose a path of service, is tied completely to one’s emergence into functioning self-esteem. Within this journey is hidden the challenges of sabotage. The reason is that the transition from ego service to soul service is the same as shifting from a definition of will power as the authority to control the world around you to an understanding of interior will as the ability to control oneself – from behavior to the management of perceptions. And finally the ultimate act of will, which is to release one’s will into the service of the Universe.

THE STAGES OF SERVICE – EGO FIRST

{Notice how numbering everything works….seven of this, four of that….and so on. But it works.}
Continued...

First Stage: Born into Service

Every one is born into the need to be served. Infants and children require the service of adults, and that’s life. Our parents are the first who imprint us with our initial experience of service. They will serve the newborn either adequately, inadequately, or incredibly. Any way you look at it, the infant is dependent upon the service of others for its survival.
Continued...

Second Stage: Survival Service

At some point, choice is introduced, but what you can do is limited, again, by the circumstances of your survival, or youth, or inexperience. What you choose to do is more likely to fall into the category of what you have to do as opposed to what you want to do. And in these types of circumstances, it is difficult to recognize that the element of service is present because you can, as in the first stage, come to believe that you are serving, or taking care of, everyone else and there’s nothing in it for you.
Continued...

Stage Three: Ego versus Soul Service

At this point, you develop the desire to come self-determining in your path of service. Your preparations take other forms, like choices for education, skills, and self-preparation. This action builds self-esteem, whereas in stage one and two, every one can appear to have more self-esteem than you. This stage is booby-trapped with the, “I don’t know….this just isn’t enough” thought form. No matter what you choose at stage three, it will look good at the start and lousy in short order. But, as always, there is a divine plan in this, which is that this discontentment gives birth to your inner self. This stage is where the ego meets the soul, where the healer has to heal him/herself. This is the stage where the illusion of all that you want to be confronts the limitations of heaven, a type of “Not your way but MINE” sayth heaven.

SOUL SERVICE

We have just completed an overview of why you sabotage the ego level of service. We are now entering into a discussion as to why it is so necessary to our enlightenment to empower others as a form of service.

Stage Four: When Passion Connects with Service

This is the following your heart and soul level of service, where the desire or passion to enter into professions of service kicks in full measure. This is the stage at which you become fairly if not thoroughly disenchanted with the offerings of the external world and look to find that which satisfies your soul as your reason to get up in the morning. Sabotage hits when other hearts, like those of family, friends, and co-workers, collide with yours in efforts to challenge the source of guidance that has begun to motivate you – that is, the interior voice versus the exterior voice. Somewhere during this stage comes the realization that others may not support your development or YOU may not want to support theirs because of a fear that they will leave you behind – which touches on why you would find it difficult to empower the spiritual journey of another person.
Continued...

Stage Five: Serving Others by Choice

Sabotage and choice is the topic of this stage. It is essential to empower others because, to be honest, it follows a cosmic rule that makes very little sense to us because we rarely see the consequences of such actions. The rule is the law of karma – cause and effect – or the law of, “Do Unto Others What You Would Have Done Unto You”. The act of serving others is a willingness to participate in the divine plan of LIFE on the behalf of LIFE, and not on behalf of “what’s in it for me”. Serving others by choice takes many forms, and it’s the ones we don’t like that you have to get a fix on.

Stage Six: Service Through Perception

We have to involve stage six at this point because all these stages overlap all the time – you are always in the motion of life. Anyway, stage six is Service Through Perception, meaning that an act of service is choosing to change your perception or attitude about someone because it heals or improves a situation or relationship. At any and all moments in life, we have the option to choose to see “it” – whatever “it” is - in a positive light. A decision to see something positively is an act of service, and an act of sabotage is knowing you have that option, but choosing to continue to operate from the negative because that supports the ego’s position. And the shadow ego is always afraid of making choices that empower others for all kinds of reasons, such as empowering another person gives him/her the advantage, or makes the other look right and you wrong, or it provides them with opportunities in life that you perceive as greater than your own, or it just plain makes them feel better and you’re not in a mood to do that – forgiveness comes to mind with that one.
Continued...

Stage Seven: Service as Needed

We are asked to empower others along the way on our spiritual path, on our own journeys of enlightenment, because that is what is called for, that is what is needed, regardless of what we perceive as fair or just. These acts of service are what is being asked of us in the moment, many of which will never “pay off” in earth chips at the table. But there comes a point – and this is the point – where service for pay off has to be left behind as child’s play. I find it curious that there is an archetypal experience of achievement – humiliation – rising from the ashes….it’s as if as soon as we reach a certain point, the gods make us start over again in one area of our lives, perhaps professionally or personally. It’s a nasty test point in which the ego is so bruised that it becomes a screaming maniac inside our heads. But this place in life is the turning point for the soul, the place of ego vulnerability where the soul can take charge of one’s life journey.

Alrighty then….that’s it for May. The topic for the June Salon: The Inability to Endure Enlightenment.

Happy Summertime….

Caroline

Personal Nutrition Provider The purpose of the PNP is to allow you a fast and easy way to identify your personal chemistry. You will receive an individual profile that shows you your score for each area and then a food plan with selected foods that support your well being on all levels: physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. We sampled over 500 adults in the United States, both people who are familiar with Susan's work and people who know nothing about it. We will continue to work on researching the PNP based upon the information we receive from this web site. Your individual responses will, of course, be totally confidential and held in strictest confidence as with a counselor or doctor.

CMED INSTITUTE
March 29-30, 185 people took part in the inaugural workshop of the CMED Institute held in the Chicago area. Judging from individual responses over the course of the weekend, it was a profoundly rewarding experience for all involved. Workshops ran from nine in the morning until after 10 P.M. Friday and Saturday and until 4 on Sunday afternoon. Caroline led students step by step through the entire process of selecting their archetypes and casting a Chart of Origin. Peter Occhiogrosso showed students how to use journaling to further explore the influence of archetypes in their lives. And Jim Curtan explicated the archetypal imagery in two recent popular movies. Joined by Peter & Gail Shaw, who has taught with Caroline in Australia, Peter, Jim, and the entire staff worked individually with members both during and between sessions. The intensive hands-on approach led many students to say that the weekend brought them to higher levels of personal insight than they had ever experienced with Caroline in the past.

The Science of Medical Intuition

Almost 20 years ago, a Harvard-trained neurosurgeon and researcher named Norman Shealy was introduced to a young woman with a special gift: she could “see” illness in other people with only her intuition to guide her. After extensive testing, Dr. Shealy concluded that her ability to diagnose illness – even from remote distances – was 93% accurate. Today that “medical intuitive” – Caroline Myss – is a legend in the field of intuition and energy healing, with three New York Times bestsellers to her credit, including her current blockbuster Sacred Contracts.

Now, in a major publishing event, these two pioneering voices are together again in a revolutionary self-care curriculum, on The Science of Medical Intuition.

First presented by Myss and Shealy at a series of influential workshops, The Science of Medical Intuition is designed to help listeners take control of their total health, through intuitive self-diagnosis and healing techniques. Complete on 12 enriching sessions – over 18 hours of learning – and enhanced by a large format workbook developed exclusively for this course, The Science of Medical Intuition covers every phase of Myss’ and Shealy’s groundbreaking approach to self-care including:

The history of medical intuition
Intuition self-training
Chakra-by-chakra self-diagnosis
Healing with imagery
Surprising scientific evidence from medicine and physics
Past lives and present health
Decoding archetypal information, and much more.
At last, here is a full toolbox of self-diagnostic practices, visualizations, and healing insights, taught by Myss and Shealy in their own words, on The Science of Medical Intuition.
